Wings of Fire Hybrid Names (Fan-made) [COMPLETE] - Part Ten: Hivewing Hybrids (2024)

As with the other Pantalan tribes, the Hivewings have been rebuilding themselves since their release from the control of the breath of evil. While still resented and distrusted by many, my personal opinion is that they cannot be considered the villains of history because of the actions of their queen anymore than the Nightwings can for the actions of Darkstalker. With their yellow-and-black scales, insect-like wings, and assortment of poisons and toxins, Hivewings introduce a level of curiosity, structure, and insight to both lands and through their hybrid offspring.

Dauberwings
Hivewing/Icewing hybrid

Terrifying and strange. They have an uncanny sense of weather and time, and can have all or none of the Hivewing's poisonous abilities. This often takes the form of "toxic ice". These dragons often have a distinctive drip-like pattern of white, pale yellow, pale blue, or black scales on the underside of their wings, on their horns, on their underbelly, on the palms of their talons, or on their snout.

Other names: Poisonwings

Bumblewings
Hivewing/Mudwing hybrid

A cute name for a very formidable hybrid. These dragons are named after bumblebees because of their tendency to possess the Mudwing build with the Hivewing black-and-yellow/orange/red scales. Their abilities make them dangerous, as they can possess all or none of the Hivewing's poisonous abilities, which can result in death-fire. They can also have fire-proof scales if they hatch from a bloodred egg.

Dronewings
Hivewing/Nightwing hybrid

Extremely hostile, these dragons do not associate with any of the other Tribes. They are not on either side of the War, instead fighting and killing as they see fit. These dragons tend to be mostly black with different variations of yellow patterning (e.i. yellow stripes or splotches, yellow or bronze speckles on the underside of their wings, yellow band across eyes, etc.) and they can possess all or none of the Nightwing abilities of mind-reading, fortune-telling, and genetic animus-magic. They can also possess any or none of the Hivewing's poison or toxins. It feared that the Hivewing's poisonous abilities mixed with the Nightwing's corrosive saliva could cause another venom-plague pandemic.

Other names: Banditwings

Honeywings
Hivewing/Rainwing hybrid

Skilled spies and informants for both sides of the War, these dragons are not as sweet as their name suggests. Rather, their name comes from the warm, honey-colored tint of their eyes and- should their wings resemble that of a Hivewing- of their wing membranes. These dragons are venomous, having the potential to be the most venomous depending on what if any of the Hivewing toxins and poisons they are born with.

Other Name(s): Snitchwings (derogatory term)

Waspwings
Hivewing/Sandwing hybrid

Swift, deadly predators. These dragons form small, tight-knit groups or swarms centered around a singular matriarch, like wasps. They look very similar to Hivewings, just more muscular and paler. They can possess all or none of the Sandwing and/or Hivewing poisons. These dragons are valuable informants for both sides of the War, however their loyalty is not guaranteed. The only thing they are loyal to is their swarm and money.

Other name(s): Banditwings

Striderwings
Hivewing/Seawing hybrid

Temperamental by nature, these dragons can be fierce opponents one moment and the closest of allies the next. Outside of personality, these dragons stand out in appearance and skill. These dragons always have unique pure-black Seawing glow-in-the-dark scales that resemble shards of obsidian stone. When these scales glow, they often have a warm amber or fire-hot white/blue color. These dragons are often more slender than their Seawing counterparts- an attribute that they are deeply proud of.

Other names: Snootywings (derogatory term by Seawings), Obsidianwings

Hornetwings
Hivewing/Skywing hybrid

Highly aggressive, territorial, and fast-producing, these dragons form the majority of the Pantala army. Often resembling larger versions of Hivewings with Skywing's massive wings, they can possess all or none of the Hivewing abilities. They have amazing stamina and should they possess Hivewing venom or acid, can produce death-fire. As terrifying and undefeatable as these dragons seem, they have yet to produce a firescale dragon that lives longer than two years. The common consensus among doctors and scientists is that the mixture of Hivewing venom and the flames on their scales creates death-fire internally, which slowly kills the dragonet. As tragedic as this is, it is also the only thing keeping the Pantalan army from completely dominating the known world.

Goldwings
Hivewing/Silkwing hybrid

Playful and extremely cunning, these dragons are as bright and valuable to any society they join as their namesake is. They often come in brilliant shades of molten golds, amber, and bronze, and do not undergo the Silkwing Metamorphosis. They can possess any, all, or none of the Hivewing stingers or acid, but they are least likely of the Hivewing hybrids to ever use this ability. Instead, Goldwings often become teachers, scientists, or explorers. Their curiosity and intelligence leads them to expand their knowledge and share their discoveries with the world.

Cedarwings
Hivewing/Leafwing hybrid

Rigid. Obedient. Resourceful strategists. All of these best describe Leafwing-Hivewing hybrids, or Cedarwings. In appearance, these dragons are often a beautiful golden-brown color with markings of various shades of greens, grays, or blacks. They can possess any, all, or none of the Hivewing poison and stingers. Should a Cedarwing have poisonous claws and possess leafspeak, they have an uncanny ability to call forth some of the most poisonous and toxic plants of the land. Most of the high-ranking generals and war strategists for the Pantalan side of the War are Cedarwings due to their inherited intelligence and loyalty.
