Is Joy Ride a good movie? ›

Joy Ride is one hell of a trip and one that you will be on board with early on and that rewards more as it progresses. Fresh score. Fresh takes, classic gags, and excellent performances from its leads elevate an occasionally clunky and very packed script into something well worth watching.

When Audrey's business trip to Asia goes sideways, she enlists the help of Lolo, her childhood best friend, Kat, a college friend, and Deadeye, Lolo's eccentric cousin. Their epic, no-holds-barred experience becomes a journey of bonding, friendship, belonging and wild debauchery that reveals the universal truth of what it means to know and love who you are.

The chain took its name from its original slogan, "Movies Just Right." However, most moviegoer's now know the name from MJR's current slogan, "It's More Fun at MJR," as heard during the beloved advertising jingle appearing before the start of every movie.

Joy Ride premiered at SXSW on March 17, 2023. It was theatrically released on July 7, 2023, by Lionsgate Films. It was originally scheduled to be released on June 23. The film was released for digital platforms on July 28, 2023, followed by a Blu-ray and DVD release on September 12, 2023.

Is the film based on a true story? Writer/director Lim tells TODAY.com that the story of Audrey, Lolo, Kat and Deadeye was loosely inspired by her own friends. She says all her friends did in their 20s was "hang out, go out partying and tell stories about our messy dating lives."

It is a wonderful story that should have received better reviews. I can understand why it wasn't a box office hit but it is definitely worth watching.

It was released in the United States on October 5, 2001, and in the UK under the title Road Kill on April 26, 2002, and in Australia as Roadkill. The alternate titles were because of the negative connotations of “joy rides” as stealing cars rather than fun roadtrips.

In the first ending Lewis is able to break the board that is supporting the truck and it comes crashing down on top of Rusty Nail. In the second ending, Venna is able to get out of the chair. She shoots Rusty Nail with the shotgun as he is trying to pull Lewis under the truck.

Wong says, “Making 'Joy Ride' work in Vancouver as China, Seoul and Paris was very challenging because Vancouver doesn't look like any of those places. It took everybody getting on board, putting our heads together and finding the right locations.”

Joy Ride is a comedy about four girls who take an unplanned trip. The movie has a solid plot that doesn't rely on just the comedy to get things going.

There is a lot of drinking and drugs in the first half of the movie. Overall I would say that it's probably best left for 16+ unless your kid is super mature about sex and you're okay with them watching and hearing the things in this movie.

HILARIOUS but still balanced with great character development and a sweet story. Hilarious and had some real heart.

A little bit a of tearjerker. But one of those movies that is good entertainment and makes you feel good. I recommend it.

The taste is really good. I like the variety of flavors. It satisfies that sweet tooth while still loosing weight. The price could stand to be less however or the size of the bag needs to be bigger.

Quibbles. ”Joy Ride” is a first-rate pure thriller, an exercise that depends on believable characters and the director's skill in putting the pieces together. The final motel sequence, in which everything breathlessly and bloodily comes together, is relentlessly well-crafted.
