Dempster was born on July 25, 1915. in Rossville, TN, to Dr. and Mrs. Fred K. West.

She graduated from Collierville High School and was an alumna of the University of Tennessee. At Mrs. Dempster was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was selected Carnicus Queen in 1936. On May 20. 1940, she married Jimmy Dempster of Knoxville.

The couple first made their home in Nashville and then later settled in Collierville where they were both church and community leaders. Mrs. Dempster served as president of the Women's Society of Christian Service and was active in the Rotary Auxiliary, the Contemporary Club, and the VFW Auxiliary. From 1955 to 1970, she was employed by several banks in the Memphis area, including Union Planters, Peoples, and Citizens. After retiring in 1970, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Dempster was an avid bridge player and an enthusiastic UT sports fan. She was a member of Collierville Methodist Church. A few years after her husband's death in 1995, Mrs. Dempster moved to Knoxville where she was a resident at Homewood Assisted Living.

Mrs. Dempster was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Dr. Felix West. She is survived by daughters, Martha Masengill of Knoxville and Donna Montgomery and husband, Brad of Mohnton, PA; son, Jim Dempster and wife, Grace of Carson City, NV; five grandchildren, Marian Lewis and husband, David of Knoxville, Rob Masengill and wife, Shana of Sarasota, FL. He was a volunteer coach for the Bartlett Bowling Lanes. He loved kids and was also a pilot and loved airplanes. He was also an amazing husband, father and grandfather. A forImer co-owner of Livestock Weekly Newspaper, a Memphis based cattle industry news publication, she affiliated with several life insurance companies after moving to New York City in the early '60s. She subsequently retired from John Hanco*ck Life Insurance in 1990. Following retirement she went to work for St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Manhattan, NY where she was the first woman to received the Episcopal Charities Volunteer of the Year in 1998, presented by the Dioceses of New York. She was the buyer for the church's outreach program dedicated to caring for the homeless.

Active at Calvary Episcopal Church, Memphis, prior to moving to New York, she also owned several small Memphis businesses centered on advertising and the sale of Mid-South cattle. She was predeceased by her parents, Laura Love Brown and William Harrison Brown, and leaves one son, William H. Raiford; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren, all of Memphis. She was a member of Subsidium and three Red Hatters groups, a Fair representative for Youth Talent, judging contests throughout the Mid-South. She was a well known bridge player and played competitive tennis in Memphis in the 70's. She was a tireless worker for people with disabilities.

Gillespie Funeral Home 662-895-2470 Southaven REV. TALMADGE HOWELL "Teaky" LANE, 73, died Thursday, March 23, 2006 after a long struggle following a brain aneurysm and subsequent cancer. Born in Tallahatchie County, MS, on March 5, 1933 to the late Knott and Latra Lane, he is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Dean Holland Lane of Southaven; a son, D. Michael Lane of Brentwood, TN; a daughter-in-law, Susan Lane; two granddaughters, Lindsay Lane Jennings (Seth) of Nashville and Jacquelyn Susanne Lane of Brentwood, TN: three brothers, Thomas Lee and wife, Murlee, Shellie Guy and wife, Marion and Lane Frank Ray Lane and wife, Patsy, all of Grenada, MS; two sisters, Frances (Joe Dan) Edwards of Jackson, MS, and Agnes Lane Martin of Richmond, VA, and a sisterin-law, Mary K.

Lane of Bristol. CT. he was preceded in death by a brother, Roman K. Lane. Rev.

Lane was a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University and held a masters degree from George Peabody College. He served as pastor of several Nazarene churches in the Memphis and North Mississippi area. He also served as a teacher and principal in the DeSoto County School System. In addition, he was the co-founder. with dear friend, Henry Rider of WVIM-FM, the area's first Christian radio station.

Upon meeting young people, his first question was, "Young man, where do you go to Sunday School? If they answered that they did not go anywhere then he was sure to invite them to church and would assure they had transportation. He had a passion for mission work with Hispanics, both locally and in LaCeiba, Honduras. Having lived a life of service to God and his fellow man, he was loved and respected not only by those in his denomination, but by all who knew him. He was a tireless worker, a humble and gentle spirit, and truly lived a selfless life. His motto was God first, others second, and himself a distant third.

He will be terribly missed by friends and family. His was indeed a life bearing much fruit! Pallbearers will be Seth Jennings, Andy Lane, Jim Holland, Eric Holland, Daniel Pressgrove, Dr. Joseph Daniel Edwards, Brad Holland and Chad Holland. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Kane, Henry Rider, Don Daniels, John Sellers, Dave Joyner, Dr. Robert Seymore, Shirley Kane, Margie Rider, Brenda Joyner, Hester Sellers and Anna Daniels.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 25. at Longview Heights Baptist Church in Olive Branch.

Ozier, Sr. and a person active in the religious and community affairs of Fayette County for many years, died Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ozier will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at the Somerville First Baptist Church, where she had been a member since 1949. with interment to follow in the Somerville City Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be from 1-3 p.m.

Friday at the church. Mrs. Ozier was instrumental with her husband in the formation of the West Tennessee Heart Association and served as Fayette County Memorial Gift Chairman for the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. For many years, she served as a Pink Lady for the local hospital and healthcare facility. She will be remembered for her love of golf, flower gardening and as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Ozier is survived by her daughter, Bettina Voigt of Indianapolis, Indiana; her son, Otis U. Ozier, Jr. of Memphis; her sister, Mary Ann Lazenby of Williston, three grandchildren and one great-grandson. The family request that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Chapter of the American Heart Association.
